
I don't know if this is something that everyone else knows about, but I am just learning about Creative Commons licensing. It has been around since 2001, and provides a way for creators of content to set up the way that they want their work to be used by others. What do we know about them and what if any, are problems associated with using cc licensed work? They provide a searchable database for cc licensed work as well as links which allow you to cc license your own work. It certainly seems in line with open source products and free software, the "let's share" movements. I like what I see.....

As I start interacting with teachers about the cool tech tools that are available for them that are relatively easy to use, I am getting the blog topic as a response. I honor the long hours and work that teachers often put into their work, but ......
What other industry or profession would allow its professionals to use the excuse "I don't have enough time" to justify not learning the new cutting edge strategies for that profession. I suspect that they would not last very long.
Teachers, just like their students have a need to understand "why" it is important and valuable to what they do. It seems to me that our misson in order to spread the concept of the new literacy and build capacity, we must first convey the why to those who have a hard time seeing it - the digital immigrants who are still speaking their native tongue in today's classroom with an accent so thick their students have tuned them out....
That's just my opinion, I could be wrong....
