Another Idea

I was reading the other night that a high school teacher provides the podcast for homework and then the next day it's for group discussion!

Always a concern...

At the last AB430 someone mentioned about being from a low SES area and knew that not all students were able to access devices. However, I really think it's another one of those "there's always an excuse not to...".

Use

I like the comment from the article, "It isn't so much that you have a podcast, it's what you do with it,"

I think that should be one of the things we foucus on when we discuss with participants using podcasts in the classroom. I fear that they are not making that connection.

Well, yeah!!!

It seems so obvious that listening to a lecture more than once, and taking notes a second time, and re-reviewing the content that doesn't make sense would improve achievement! What is surprising is the number of professors and teachers who are afraid that students will not go to class, or not pay attention in class, because they can listen to the podcast instead. I'd be interested in some research in the ways in which students use podcasts most effectively - taking notes compared to just listening, for example.
